Welcome Back to Queenstown Harbor, Spencer!

We are excited to welcome back a familiar face to the golf team at Queenstown Harbor. Spencer Hensley, who started his professional golf career at Queenstown Harbor from 2011-2015. šŸŒļø His official bio is included below but we were able to ask him a few personal questions to share with you. Enjoy!

What have you been doing since leaving QH in 2015?

"I've worked at a few places along the East Coast including Director of Instruction at TopGolf in Virginia Beach. Then I transitioned to Miami where I studied under Jim McLean at his flagship school (#1 Golf School in the world). From there I led my own Golf School near Raleigh, NC, at 2 different semi-private clubs, where I focused on my own instruction technique and growth for 4 years. Most recently, I was the Player Development Professional at Kenwood Country Club (Bethesda, MD) and then Talbot Country Club (Easton, MD)."

What makes you excited to return to Queenstown Harbor?

"The shortlist is that it's an absolutely beautiful club with great people, who are passionate about golf and love coming to work! It feels like home for me and I love the continuous growth. I am grateful that I get the opportunity to join the family at QH again, I am excited to grow with the club."

Spencerā€™s journey as a student of the game started when he was 16 years old and continued as he studied and graduated from Methodist University. Ultimately, he earned his PGA Professional Certification, solidifying his love and passion for golf. He has taught alongside and learned from many Top 100 Teachers and is Lynn Blake & Jim McLean Certified. Spencer has been assisting and running junior and adult programs for 18 years, and he is eager to help you become the best player you can be!

Spencer takes pride in helping his students learn to love the game more. His philosophy is: golf is simpleā€¦get the ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible. Learning to play golf and enjoying the game should be the same. Spencerā€™s unique approach towards player development is grounded in the idea that there is no one specific way to swing the club or hit the golf ball. Spencer tailors his instruction to his students and their personal goals.

When Spencer is not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife (Bri) & dog (Palmer), playing golf & studying golf swings. He's an avid basketball fan (Go Tar Heels!!), enjoys a good football or baseball game (Go Oā€™s!), and spending the summer crabbing & boating. "My favorite food is my Grandmother's spaghetti & anything his wife cooks (for real, she is amazing in the kitchen)."
